My story is one of resilience, leadership, and the pursuit of authenticity in a world that often values conformity
My Autism & ADHD Journey
From Hidden Struggles to Professional Success
Undiagnosed Autism & ADHD
My Early Journey: At the tender age of 19, learning I was about to become a father sparked my drive to provide and succeed, pushing me to leave delinquency behind and step into the corporate world. Looking back, I can now see how my then-undiagnosed neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism/ASD) shaped my identity and created both unique challenges and hidden strengths that would define my professional journey.
Software Engineer to Tech Executive
A Career Evolution: With newfound responsibilities, I balanced parenthood, marriage, and a demanding career, often feeling I was swimming against the current. I began as a software engineer, fueled by analytical curiosity and a talent for problem-solving. Driven to prove myself, I thrived in high-pressure environments where my pattern recognition, conceptual thinking, hyperfocus, and unconventional perspective propelled me into tech, product, and operations leadership and executive roles across numerous global organisations.
Transformation Amid Tension
Navigating Change: I naturally gravitated toward leading complex tech transformations and creating order from chaos to achieve what others deemed impossible. Yet, leading change inevitably creates disruption and resistance, adding layers of stress to an already demanding role. Behind my professional facade was an exhausting effort to fit in, adapt, and meet expectations that felt fundamentally misaligned with who I was. This constant effort took its toll on my mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Something needed to change.
Finding My Path
Diagnosis, Discovery, and a New Mission
Coaching Discovery
A Break Through: My first breakthrough came when I integrated coaching principles into my leadership approach—transforming my effectiveness and wellbeing while developing stronger communication skills that bridged neurological differences.
Late-Diagnosed Autism & ADHD
A Turning Point: The pivotal moment, however, was receiving my autism and ADHD diagnosis mid-executive career. This revelation forced me to reinterpret my entire history—my intense focus, systems thinking, energy fluctuations, and tendency to challenge workplace norms. I gradually recognised these weren't weaknesses but powerful strengths when properly channeled and supported.
Support Gap for Leaders
The Missing Piece: While seeking guidance, I discovered a significant gap—few professionals combined senior leadership experience with genuine understanding of ADHD and Autism, particularly regarding the complex interplay between professional demands and personal wellbeing. If I couldn't find the support I needed, others must be facing the same void. This realization inspired me to step away from my executive position and become the resource I wished I'd had.
